One of my favorite places to post my pictures is photosig.com. There is a pretty well established global community of professional and amateur photographers who will be glad to critique your photos and give you advice. Let me tell you something: That advice is worth more than a ton of photography “how to” books or DVDs.

Some of the critiques will be brutally honest, but they allow you to cut through the self admiration and view your work objectively. Unless you have the ego of Napoleon, you will learn form the criticism and shoot a better photo next time.

Conversely, when you really do a bang up job on something, there will be plenty of praise and admiration – some of it from photogs who have been around a while. I have a gallery up there as Desert Dweller. I haven’t been active on the site for a while, but as I get more time I hope to change that.
